Avi Shaviv is a Professor at Technion-IIT, focusing on environmental soil-water physical chemistry and emphasizing water-soil-nutrient interactions and effects on local/global water and food security; and, sustainable reuse of treated wastewater for irrigation and resource conservation.
Avi’s recent projects include spectroscopy and N-isotopes for multiphase tracing N-dynamics in agro-ecosystems and monitor N2O/NH3 emissions; and, development of advanced N-availability indicators focusing on environmental intensification.
Avi is deeply involved in developing environmentally-friendly advanced fertilization approaches and promoting such concepts internationally. He has served in faculty and institutional management positions, and national/international professional activities and committees. He currently chairs the Dahlia Greidinger fund in charge of organizing international soil fertility symposia.
