Prof. Dr. Jürgen Kühling holds the Chair for Public Law, Real Estate Law, Infrastructure Law and Information Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Regensburg since 2007. He has been Dean of the Faculty of Law (2017 – 2019). He studied law at the Universities of Trier in Germany and Nancy II in France, and accomplished his postgraduate studies (Master in Legal Theory, LL.M.) at KUB, and FUSL in Brussels. He held the Chair for Public Law, Media- and Telecommunications Law, and Data Privacy Law at the Center for Applied Jurisprudence (ZAR) at the University of Karlsruhe from 2004 to 2007.
Prof. Jürgen Kühling is member of the German Monopolies Commission since July 2016, appointed by the German Federal President, upon a proposal by the German Federal Government. The Monopolies Commission is a permanent, independent expert committee which advises the German government and legislature in the areas of competition policy-making, competition law, and regulation. Since September 2020 he is the Chairman of the Monopolies Commission.
