Juan Rodriguez is co-head of Sullivan & Cromwell’s global antitrust practice and co-leads Sullivan & Cromwell’s EU Competition Group. In addition to being qualified in England and Wales, he is also Advocat de Barreau de Paris.
Mr. Rodriguez is regularly recognized as a leader in EU Competition in leading legal directories and publications. Chambers Global and Chambers UK, have highlighted Mr. Rodriguez’s “sharp legal mind” and provision of a “high level of client satisfaction”. He is also noted for being “strong in dealing with sophisticated cross-border matters” and IFLR1000 commended him for being “the firm’s key partner on [competition] matters”.
Mr. Rodriguez's practice has seen him representing some of the world’s largest companies across a range of industries advising on the full range of competition law issues. Mr. Rodriguez has led the EU competition team on award winning transactions such as “Matter of the Year” and “Merger Control Matter of the Year” at GCR Awards 2019 for his work on Bayer’s acquisition of Monsanto. In addition to merger clearance expertise, Mr. Rodriguez has extensive experience representing clients before the EU Commission and other national competition authorities in Europe on cartel investigations, state aid investigations and other litigation including Fiat Chrysler Finance Europe on an EU state aid investigation and in its pending appeal against the decision.
He is a member of the European Competition Lawyers Forum and is fluent in English and French.
