Masaya SakumaDirector, Management and Planning Division, Investigation Bureau at Japan Fair Trade Commission
Masaya SAKUMA has served as Director, Management and Planning Division, Investigation Bureau, the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) since July 2020.
He joined the JFTC after graduating from Faculty of Economics, the University of Tokyo. Since then, he has worked for the JFTC and other government organizations including Cabinet Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and had various experiences.
For recent ten years, he held positions in the JFTC as Senior Investigator, Investigation Bureau (2011-2013). After getting experience in this positions, he served as Counselor, Cabinet Office (2013-2016) and worked on various economic policy issues including regulatory reform for promoting investment in Japan. He also served as Counselor, the JFTC (2016-2019), in charge of conducting policy planning and sector enquiries, especially relevant to vertical restraints. Before being assigned the present position, he was Director, International Affairs Division, since July 2019.
