Andrew Mitchell has spent a lifetime at the frontline of tropical forest conservation and is an international thought leader on sustainable finance, climate change and forests. He has five decades of experience across 30 countries. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Stewardship Council of TNFD, the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosure. He is Founder and Senior Adviser to Global Canopy, one of the world’s leading providers of ‘data for nature’ focusing on supply chains linked to deforestation. He owns a private consultancy advising the financial sector on environmental risks and opportunities. His current work through TNFD, of which he was co-founder in 2001, is focussed on redirecting global financial flows towards a nature positive economy. Through Global Canopy, he helped to accelerate understanding of forests and climate within the UNFCCC; pioneered biodiversity disclosure among corporations worldwide and supported the emerging field of impact investment funds on natural capital. As a zoologist, he pioneered the scientific exploration of rainforest canopies using aerial walkways and participated in many research expeditions to remote regions of the world.
