Marjolein van Egmond
Professor of Oncology and Inflammation at Amsterdam University Medical Center

Marjolein van Egmond is professor in Oncology and Inflammation, at the Departments of Molecular Cell Biology & Immunology and Surgery, Amsterdam University Medical Center. Initially her research focused on the role of the Fc receptor for IgA (FcαRI) in protective mucosal immunity. Her lab discovered that aberrant IgA initiates perpetual neutrophil activation, leading to severe tissue damage in multiple auto-immune diseases and chronic inflammation. She now uses this knowledge to develop novel antibody formats to recruit neutrophils for cancer therapy.
