Jasi Atwal, PhDSenior Scientist, Neuroscience at Genentech
Dr Jasi Atwal is Senior Scientist at Genentech, South San Francisco, California, USA. Jasi obtained her PhD in Neurosciences at McGill University in Montreal, Canada studying neurotrophin-mediated growth and survival signalling pathways, and was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University and Genentech, where she investigated myelin inhibitors of neural regeneration. At Genentech, Jasi’s lab is focussed on discovering and developing disease-modifying therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease. She has extensive experience in both small molecule and antibody approaches targeting amyloid. Her current focus is on exploring new modalities aimed at reducing levels of pathological tau, including reduction of de novo tau protein production and modulating protein homeostasis. Jasi’s lab also has a keen interest in developing methods to improve delivery of biologics to the CNS, for example through receptor-mediated transcytosis (RMT).
