Lars Hangartner
Associate Professor of IMS at The Scripps Research Institute

Dr. Hangartner has been investigating B cell and antibody responses to variable viruses such as HIV and influenza virus and is currently working on the development of a vaccine against HIV. One of the focuses of Dr. Hangartner’s research lies in antibody Fc effector functions, and he recently identified a novel antiviral activity that is intrinsic to the C-terminal glycan of IgA. Moreover, he developed a rapid method for polyclonal antibody mapping by electron microscopy in collaboration with Dr. Andrew Ward.
