Leona McGirr, Ph.D.Team Leader-Affinity Maturation at Fusion Antibodies
Leona McGirr graduated with an Honours degree in Chemistry with Forensic Analysis from the Queens University in Belfast in 2012. Her subsequent PhD research was a multi-disciplinary project that involved collaborating between the School of Chemistry and the School of Pharmacy to develop novel hybrid gold/polymer nanoparticles whose surfaces were conjugated with antibodies for potential theranostic applications.
Since 2017 Leona has been the Team Leader for Affinity Maturation within Fusion Antibodies plc, where she manages a multi-disciplinary team of computational chemists and protein biologists to develop optimized antibodies using the proprietary RAMP™ platform. She is also used her nanoparticle experience to develop a novel method for screening a mammalian display library of antibodies.
