Stefan Dübel studied biology in Mainz and Heidelberg. Starting from 1989, he co-pioneered in vitro antibody selection technologies, resulting in key inventions including antibody phage display and human antibody libraries. His lab continued to work on multiple topics related to human antibody engineering and phage display, e.g. Hyperphage technology, or affinity switchable antibodies, and has produced more than 2500 human monoclonal antibodies so far. He is editor of the four volume reference "Handbook of Therapeutic Antibodies“, consultant to big pharma copanies and EU/US goverment institutions and co-founder of four biotech companies, including the human antibody discovery company Yumab. He is Full Professor of Biotechnology and Director of the respective department at the Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany.
