Mr Milan KRISTOF is a référendaire (legal adviser) at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg in the Cabinet of First Advocate-General Melchior Wathelet. Previously, he worked in the Cabinet of Advocate-General Jan Mazak. He has worked in this position at the Court of Justice since 2006.
Prior to that, Milan worked in Brussels as a case-handler at the European Commission (Directorate-General for Competition) and in Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in the EU Law practice. He also gained experience working in the European Parliament and the Government Office of the Slovak Republic.
Milan speaks and writes regularly on EU law, competition law and IP law (e.g. on several
occasions at the annual Fordham conference in New York, but also in London, Copenhagen…). He is a Contributor to the 7th and 8th editions of ‘Bellamy & Child: EU
Law of Competition’, the market-leading practitioner work on EU antitrust law. Moreover, Milan writes commentaries on national judgments involving EU law for Oxford Competition Law and is a co-author of the forthcoming comprehensive practical guide on litigation ‘European Court Procedure’ (with Hart Publishing).
Over the past eight years, Milan has given annual courses and workshops at the elite French National School for the Judiciary (Ecole nationale de la magistrature) in Bordeaux
and at the IEB school in Madrid. He has also given training to national judges inter alia in
Belgium, Germany, Bulgaria and Serbia.
