Mikhail Krapivin is an executive coach, negotiation consultant and mediator. He brings more than 20 years of experience in negotiations, conflict management & dispute settlement in a variety of commercial contexts. Previously in his career he was a partner, founder and head of the CIS Disputes & Investigations practice at Alvarez & Marsal, a global leader in crisis management, where he now serves as Senior Advisor. Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal Mikhail ran a professional services firm focusing on conflict management, which he founded. He started his career with Baker & McKenzie in Russia.
Mikhail’s primary focus is on design and implementation of innovative solutions to help clients maximize value, retain fair share of it and manage reputation and relationships in a range of distressed situations (corporate conflicts, non-performing loans, distressed investments, etc.).
Most recently, he led a multidisciplinary team helping a venture fund (UK) prepare for and negotiate an exit from a distressed investment (digital entertainment solutions).
Before that he advised a major international bank in relation to a EUR50 mln unsecured non-performing loan involving complex financial relationships with multiple stakeholders, parallel litigation across multiple jurisdictions, fraud charges and insolvencies.
As a coach Mikhail works with senior leaders in business and professional services on interpersonal relationships matters such as communication, key stakeholder management, complex negotiations, conflicts, difficult conversations, etc.
Mikhail holds a global executive MBA degree from TRIUM Program (LSE, HEC, NYU), executive master’s degree in behavioral science (LSE), master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago and a law degree from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
As a coach Mikhail trained with the High Performance Institute (US), Performance Consultants International (UK), and CoachU (US). As a negotiator and mediator Mikhail has graduated from multiple programs at the Harvard Program on Negotiation (US) and regularly trains with them. He is also a CEDR-accredited mediator (UK).
Mikhail is a member of The Global Association of Applied Behavioral Scientists. He is fluent in Russian and English and has a working knowledge of German.
