Stephen Peters is an experienced forensic accountant with some 20 years of diverse experience in forensic accounting. He has been involved in expert witness assignments in the areas of insurance claims, breach of contract and loss of profits, acquisitions and disposals disputes, minority shareholder and joint venture disputes, valuations, accounts interpretation, directors’ disqualifications and intellectual property matters. Stephen has also been involved in a number of major international financial investigations. He has led a number of large and complex asset tracing/recovery projects and is a leading expert in respect of contentious insolvency work.

Stephen is the forensic lead in respect of Contentious Insolvency and cross-border disputes. He also represents the UK firm on the Global Forensic Leadership Group.

Prior to joining BDO, Stephen was a Director in the forensic accounting group of AlixPartners, a US specialist consultancy where he managed a variety of projects relating to disputes and financial investigations. Stephen previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in its forensic services practice where he was involved in major investigations and large-scale litigation assignments. Stephen also spent three years working for an international firm of Chartered Loss Adjusters dealing with loss of profits and investigating suspected fraudulent insurance claims.

Stephen graduated with honours with a BSc degree in civil engineering from Aston University, Birmingham. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has a post-graduate certificate in Fraud Risk management from John Moores University, Liverpool.”
