Justice Datuk Wong Kian Kheong graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) degree from University of Malaya (UM) in 1988. Thereafter he was awarded a scholarship from Cambridge Commonwealth Trust-Shell Group of Companies to pursue his Master of Laws (Honours) degree in University of Cambridge in 1989.

He was called to the Malaysian Bar in March 1990. He then joined the Judicial and Legal Service where he served as a Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) in the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) until he commenced private practice in December 1997. Justice Wong had been awarded Excellent Service Award twice when he was a DPP in AGC. He had represented Malaysia in various conferences on, among others, the drafting of the United Nations’ Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, treaties on extradition and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

He had lectured on a part-time basis in UM’s Law Faculty and Brickfields College. Justice Wong was the editor for Mallal’s Monthly Digest and Annotated Statutes of Malaysia as well as a case reporter for Malayan Law Journal. He had also served as a Course Outline Reviewer, Examination Question Setter and Examiner for the Legal Profession Qualifying Board (QB). When he was in practice, he had served as a Chairman of Disciplinary Committee and had acted pro bono for QB, Bar Council and Disciplinary Board. He had also been appointed to act for Bank Negara Malaysia, Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia, Selangor State Government and UM.

Justice Wong was appointed a Judicial Commissioner in June, 2014 and then a Judge in April 2018. He is elevated to the Court of Appeal in January 2023. He has given talks on various topics organized by, among others, Judicial Academy, Judicial and Legal Service Training Institute, Kuala Lumpur Bar, Selangor Bar, Inns of Court of Malaysia and Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation. He is also a trainer for advocacy courses organized by the Malaysian Bar.
