Debra DiCiannaSenior Compliance Engineer at Choice Ballast Solutions
Debra DiCianna has extensive experience in supporting shipowner ballast water management compliance issues as well as the design and performance of ballast water management system installations. Ms. DiCianna has been a delegate for the United States (U.S.) at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and has served on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Ballast Water Technology Panel.
Prior to joining Choice Ballast Solutions, Ms. DiCianna supported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on developing future requirements for the Vessel General Permit and subsequent Vessel Incidental Discharges Act. Ms. DiCianna also supported the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Military Sealift Command and the American Bureau of Shipping in developing waste management solutions, assessing environmental compliance issues, and designing ship environmental systems. During her tenure with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Debra studied the design and performance of treatment technologies and developed water discharge regulations.
Debra has Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a member of the North American Marine Environmental Protection Association (NAMEPA) and IMarEST.
