Jason Bayly-StarkAssistant Director, Marine & Aquatic Biosecurity Section at Australian Government Department of Agriculture
Jason Bayly-Stark joined the Australian Government Department of Agriculture in 2015 as part of a team developing the required regulations, policy and processes for implementation of the International BWM Convention. Following Australia’s ratification of the BWM Convention in 2017, Jason has held a position of Assistant Director for a team addressing marine biosecurity, including the operation of Australian Ballast Water Management Requirements. In this role Jason has policy oversight of Flag and Port State responsibilities, manages Australia’s domestic invasive species surveillance program, and contributes to Australia’s representation at the IMO. Prior to joining the Department of Agriculture Jason has worked extensively in Australia and South East Asia as an environmental scientist and biologist. Jason holds a Bachelor of Science (Zoology) from the University of Tasmania, Australia.
