Jeffrey L. Ram, Ph.D., studied physics at the University of Pennsylvania, obtained his doctorate in biology at the California Institute of Technology, did research at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and became a full professor in Physiology at Wayne State University in 1993. 

As an associate in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology & Immunology, his research includes publications on molecular source tracking of organisms in watersheds, beaches, ballast water, and sewage systems and health-related microbiome analyses in human fecal and oral samples. 

Dr. Ram has a current grant to measure COVID-19 virus in wastewater from Wayne State dormitories and Detroit sewersheds.
