Claire Sands Baker is the Director and co-founder of the Toothpick Project, revolutionizing agricultural technologies to help farmers fight Striga, the most critical pest threat to food security sub-Saharan Africa. Baker is a 2018 Kravis Lab for Social Impact Moonshot Fellow, 2017 MassChallenge Finalist, 2017 Blackstone Launchpad Montana State University Charter Entrepreneur. Her expertise is in strategic partnership-building and community engagement. Scientist Dr. David Sands is Baker’s father and they’ve worked together on this project for five years. Baker has 25 years experience in nonprofit management: Tributary Fund (Montana, Mongolia); Self Enhancement, Inc. (raised $14 million in 5 years, Oregon); MSU College of Arts & Architecture; Big Sky Youth Empowerment; Yellowstone Center; consulting for US/international NGOs.
