Agenor Mafra-Netro, Ph.D.CEO at ISCA Inc
Dr. Agenor Mafra-Neto is the president, CEO, and founder of ISCA Inc., which has affiliated companies and subsidiaries in Riverside, CA., USA, Ijuí, Brazil, and Hyderabad, India. ISCA develops and markets worldwide sustainable alternatives to traditional insecticides through applications of naturally occurring pheromones and other semiochemicals that modify insect pest behavior. ISCA is a world leader in agriculture by making these next generation pest controls affordable to farmers of row and specialty crops by reducing pheromone manufacturing cost, and by developing flowable formulations that can be efficiently applied by aircraft, drones, tractors, and other mechanical means, or by hand. These environmentally friendly insect controls affect only targeted pest species, are not prone to resistance, and naturally biodegrade in the field. Dr. Mafra-Neto’s interest in agriculture dates back a childhood he spent on his family’s farms in Brazil. He earned bachelor and master and degrees in biology at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Campinas, SP, Brazil, in 1982 and 1985, respectively. He later earned a Ph.D. in entomology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA., in 1993 and Post-Doc in Chemical Ecology at the Department of Entomology at the Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa from 1993 to 1996. He was a staff researcher in the Department of Entomology at the University of California, Riverside, (UCR) Calif. from 1996 to 1999. Today, he is a member of the UCR Foundation Board of Trustees. Agenor frequently engaged as an expert with governments, private and governmental institutions, and as a speaker at conferences worldwide.
