Maribel ParadaPresident at Red Chilena de Bioinsumos
Maribel Parada Ibañez, born in the city of Linares, concluded her university studies in Temuco, where she established her residence. As a Professor in Biology and Natural Sciences, she’s dedicated herself to teaching her profession. Maribel joined the Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Science, in August 1990, after working in Phytopathology for 3 years at the Carillanca Experimental Station, INIA. Her teaching and research activities have been focused on the area of phytopathology and microbiology. Mariel carried out improvement studies leading to the Master of Science degree in Plant Protection, granted by the Universidad Austral de Chile. In 2002 she began her doctorate studies, obtaining the degree with cum laude qualification, in 2005, at the University of Seville in Spain.
Maribel is the Director of the research group of the Biotechnology Center for Microbial Studies (CEBEM), composed of the Laboratory of Microbiology and Rhizobiology and Molecular Biology and Fluorometry Laboratory, which have a group of biotechnology professionals who perform basic and applied research, as well as also provision of services and advice in the area of quality control of agro-bioproduct. She’s also been the National Coordinator of the Iberoamerican Network of CYTED for 16 years, where she has been able to carry out various activities leading to bring together researchers in the area of biofertilizers and collaborate to generate, use and application policies at the country level, incorporating what is done to Latin American level. Maribel’s experience has allowed her to form, in Chile, the Chilean Network of Bioinsumos A.G., where she currently acts as President.
