SVP Global Strategic Partnering and Head EU at Zai Lab

Alette Verbeek is Senior Vice President, Global Strategic Partnering and EU Head for Zai Lab. In her current role, Alette is responsible for accelerating and expanding Zai’s global pipeline and portfolio through partnerships and acquisitions. Key focus areas include Oncology, Immunology and Neurology. Alette joined Zai Lab in October 2022, from Novartis where she held positions of increasing responsibility in Global Business Development (Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic (CRM) diseases) and Corporate M&A. In this capacity, she helped transform the CRM portfolio into an attractive and innovative growth engine. Her capabilities in navigating change management resulted in her leadership role for the global integration of The Medicines Company within Novartis Pharma. Alette was previously with MSD/Merck & Co. and UCB Pharma, where she built a strong BD&L department, set strategic direction, and established governance processes. She has spearheaded numerous creative deals during her career, ranging from traditional in-licensing & divestments, to company acquisitions, asset spin outs and risk-sharing approaches. She is trained as a pharmacist and enjoys treasured time with friends and family.
