Charlotte SmerdonCell & Gene Centre of Excellence Lead, Portfolio Director Project Management at Veristat
Charlotte Smerdon, PhD., brings more than 15 years of industry experience across all phases of clinical development encompassing NDA submissions, approval and post-approval initiatives. She began her career as a clinical research associate and subsequently moved onto various roles of increasing responsibility in the biotech, pharma, and CRO sectors, across multiple therapeutic areas and global geographies. Freeline, Gilead, GSK CH, Amgen, TAKEDA and Servier were some of the organizations where Charlotte put her expertise to work, providing leadership for trial deliverables involving project management, clinical monitoring, site management, clinical data management, SAS programming, biostatistics, pharmacovigilance, regulatory affairs and medical writing, with a focus on financial controls and compliance.
She possesses a wealth of knowledge in complex high profile clinical trial programs and portfolios across diverse therapeutic areas including gene therapy, rare diseases, HIV, and Covid-19 among others. Charlotte’s geographic experience includes the US, EMEA, UK, South America, Canada, APAC and Japan, with hands-on expertise working with regulatory authorities in each region. Charlotte is currently Director of Veristat’s Cell & Gene Center of Excellence and Portfolio Director of Veristat’s EU project management team. She holds a BSc with honours from the University of Hertfordshire and a PhD from University College, London.
