Dr. Moira Gunn is both an academic and a professional journalist. Best known publicly as the host of BioTech Nation, a regular segment of Tech Nation, Gunn interviews some 50 biotech CEO’s, global industry leaders, and research scientists each year, approaching 1,000 biotech-related interviews in her 20-year career under contract to NPR. She covers a broad range of topics - from biopharmaceuticals to bioenergy, from AgBio to industrial biotech, for biomedical devices to the networked digital healthcare of today. A former NASA scientist and engineer, Professor Gunn is also the Director of Bioentrepreneurship at the University of San Francisco, where she directs the Bioentrepreneurship graduate program. The National Science Board awarded Gunn its “Public Service Award to the Individual” for her contributions to increasing the Public Understanding of Science and Engineering.
