Jukka Kervinen PhDScientist, Applications Group Manager at TOSOH BIOSCIENCE LLC
Jukka studied at the Universities of Jyvaskyla and Helsinki, Finland, and holds a Ph.D. in Cell & Molecular Biology. As a post-doctoral fellow at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, MD, he conducted X-ray structural studies on plant and retroviral proteases. He continued protein biochemical research at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia prior to moving to the pharmaceutical industry to study inflammatory, metabolic and infectious diseases. At Fraunhofer-USA Center for Molecular Biotechnology, Newark, DE, in 2012-18, his main responsibilities were to develop efficient protein purification processes for monoclonal antibodies and other therapeutically important biologics for production in a cGMP environment. Jukka joined Tosoh Bioscience LLC in February 2018. His current responsibilities as an Applications Team Manager consist of directing chromatographic method testing for protein purification and developing applications for Tosoh analytical columns. He also works closely with the Product Management Team for the best practices with Tosoh Bioscience products including validation of new products.
