Somen NandiAdjunct Professor, Chemical Engineering at University of California, Davis
Profile
Professor Somen Nandi’s group (http://mcdonald-nandi.ech.ucdavis.edu) works on engineering plant cells as platform to produce recombinant therapeutic proteins. The group is interested in a wide range of innovative activities including but not limited to, gene and construct design for therapeutic molecules, recombinant protein expression and characterization, downstream process engineering, and techno-economic analysis for human/animal heath, food security, and defense. Somen’s research projects are designed to discover, develop, and characterize the molecules those are safe, effective, and affordable to global population. Somen’s past work in industry led to the development of six products, now in the market and two molecules in human clinical trials. Somen is also Founder and Managing Director of Global HealthShare® initiative (ghs.ucdavis.edu) at UC Davis.
