Catarina is a Principal Scientist in the Platform Research department at Oxford Biomedica, having previously worked in the Vector Engineering group since joining the company in 2015. She has spent 6+ years developing, optimising and characterising lentiviral vectors for treatment of several genetic diseases, contributing to various patents and process improvements. Currently she is project managing new technologies being developed in the research department before transitioning to large-scale testing and manufacturing. Catarina has 15 years’ experience in the lentiviral field, including a PhD in Molecular Biology at the Universidad Autonoma in Madrid investigating lipid raft-based strategies to interfere with HIV-1 infection, and a postdoc at the Molecular Virology unit in the National Centre of Microbiology (Madrid) investigating high fidelity mutations in the reverse transcriptase of HIV-1.
