Dirk Martens
Associate Professor at Wageningen University


Dirk Martens is associate professor animal cell biotechnology in the bioprocess engineering group of Wageningen University where he works on process development for the production of pharmaceutical proteins and vaccines using CHO cells and the baculovirus expression system. Within this his research focus is on modelling the interactions between the cells and the bioreactor environment.  

Before he obtained his PhD in Bioprocess Engineering in 1996 on the topic of animal cell culture biotechnology and  from 2001 till 2015  he was assistant professor of Bioprocess Engineering on the topics of animal cell culture biotechnology, micro-algal biotechnology and metabolic modelling.
