Elli Makrydaki, PhD

Elli Makrydaki studied Chemical Engineering in the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. In 2020 she obtained her PhD from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London and the groups of Prof. Cleo Kontoravdi and Prof. Karen Polizzi. Her research focuses on developing in vitro techniques to control protein glycosylation in a sustainable manner tailored for each application, improving the production of therapeutic proteins, such as monoclonal antibodies and vaccines. In 2021 she sharted a collaboration with Imperial College London, Innovate UK and AstraZeneca for the development of cell-free antibody synthesis and glycosylation platforms.
