Christopher Brown joined CSU Maritime Academy’s Golden Bear Research Center (GBRC) as the Scientific Program Manager in 2017. Chris has over 20 years of research and regulatory experience working with marine invasive species. Prior to joining the GBRC, Chris was a Senior Environmental Scientist with the California State Lands Commission’s Marine Invasive Species Program, where he worked on ballast water and vessel biofouling regulatory compliance issues. Chris also worked as a researcher with the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, working on vector ecology and ballast water sampling. His range of experiences has provided Chris with an extensive, well-rounded knowledge of invasive species concerns as they relate to commercial shipping.
