Anthony MaHead of Prudential Risk & Regulation at GRANT THORNTON
Anthony is a former regulator and a qualified lawyer. He served seven years in the FCA (and its predecessor FSA) across several departments in the space of Supervision and Authorisation. He now sits in Grant Thornton’s Business Risk Services and leads on prudential regulatory matters for financial services firms. He also acts as a technical specialist in prudential regulation, operational risk, governance and authorisations.
In the field of prudential regulation, Anthony participated in SREP assessments for several P1 and P2 FCA regulated firms, as a specialist in operational risk, recovery and resolution, and wind-down planning. He helped to operationalise BRRD in the FCA and authored the Wind-down Planning Guide. Currently, he advises a range of FCA/PRA regulated firms on prudential rules (especially CRR) and coaches senior executives to prepare for regulatory visits. He also supervises consultants to review ICAAP/ILAAP and regulatory returns.
