Dr Lilian Hook is Director of Cell, Apheresis and Gene Therapies (CAGT) at NHS Blood and Transplant. The CAGT directorate supports stem cell transplants for blood cancer, from the provision of donors, through to stem cell collections and cell processing; the delivery and manufacture of ATMPs; and therapeutic apheresis services for conditions such as sickle cell disease. Lilian has over 25 years’ experience in R&D, focussing on stem cells, advanced therapies, and regenerative medicine. Prior to joining NHSBT she was Chief Scientific Officer at Smart Matrix Limited leading the clinical development of a biological scaffold for wound healing applications. She has worked in several biotechnology companies, academia, and public bodies, such as the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult.
