Profile
Geert Plaetinck obtained his PhD in 1986 at the lab of Prof. Walter Fiers at Ghent University. After a 3-years postdoc at the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research he worked from 1989 to 1998 in the R&D department of Roche as a senior scientist. In 1998 he joined Devgen, a biotech start up, and as science director he was involved in the development of the RNAi technology. Today Geert Plaetinck is employed at the Syngenta Ghent Innovation Center as Science lead for the RNAi platform focusing on the use of RNAi applications for pest control and crop protection.
