Researcher at University of Salamanca


After her bacherlor in Environmental Sciences, in 2003 she started her research work in the Department of Microbiology in the University of Salamanca (Spain), where, in addition to doing research for her thesis, she collaborated on several research projects looking at the symbiosis between bacteria and plants. She enrolled in the Degree Agricultural Engineering and in 2008 she defended her doctoral thesis, receiving an assessment of Excellent with Honour and an Award of PhD. After this period, she started a postdoctoral contract looking at the effect of rhizobia bacteria in horticultural plants.

In May 2010 she started to work as R+D projects supervisor in the National Canter for Food Safety and Technology (Navarra, Spain).

In October 2010 she moved to the John Innes Center (Norwich, UK), starting a project to study genes implicated in rhizosphere competition in rhizobia.

From November 2012 she started a postdoctoral contract in the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. In January 2016 she got as a Principal Investigator a 3 years project funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GAČR) and for another 3 years project as Main Investigator within a program to stimulate the incorporation of doctor in industry/companies (Torres Quevedo) co-funded by the Spanish Government, so she moved to Spain but kept on managing a research gruop and project at the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic.

From june 2017 she is a Marie Curie reesearcher at the University of Salamanca (Spain), leading her own project funded by the European Program Horizon2020, focused on the sutdy of genes implicated in the endophytes entrance to rapeseed crops.

She has participated in 17 R+D projects and she is author of 1 patent and 77 scientific publications, being 51 of them in indexed journals. She has supervised several PhD and end-of-degree students and she has tought in several subjects and courses both at the university of Salamanca and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

She has been part of the scientific commetee or organizing commetee of several international conferences and is editor of scientific journals.
