Monica MalcarneSite Head, Senior Director Operations and Board President at Covance
Mrs. Malcarne has more than 25 years of experience in Drug Development. As Head of Sample Management Services, she launched and executed the renovation of the BioRepository Services, completed with the implementation of a web base client portal, allowing for the expansion of the service to Europe and Asia and the deployment of a new commercial model. She oversaw the automation of the pre-analytical service in Geneva and was recognized for maintaining service delivery while creating capacity for 10x growth and decreasing the cost of operating. She led the integration of operations as part of merger and acquisitions including harmonization of services at a global scale. Prior to holding operations role, Mrs. Malcarne progressed through various leadership positions in Global Project Management in Geneva and Indianapolis and in General Management for Covance Operations in Shanghai, China and in Zeist, the Netherlands and then Director of Global Laboratory Support Service. Under her leadership, the company launched a new service for Extended Laboratory Management.
As Site Head since 2016, Mrs. Malcarne has responsibility for the Geneva clinical trial laboratory and Füllinsdorf pre-clinical operations. With the local leadership team, she coordinates all the employee focused activities and external relationships, becoming the best employer in the medical field with garnering recognition from the Bilan magazine. In 2017, Mrs. Malcarne was selected as part of the 100 personalities who make French-speaking Switzerland by the magazine Le Temps.
Mrs. Malcarne holds a Master of Art degree in Social and Political Sciences from Lausanne University, Switzerland. She is a passionate advocate for promoting women leadership, for supporting start-ups in their development and for fostering innovation. In 2018, she was appointed as Board President, after 2 years being a member, of the Foundation Eclosion whose mission is to foster entrepreneurs in translating their life science innovation into economic value and jobs in the Geneva’s region. Monica contributes to the Public Affairs Commission of the GEM - Groupement des Entreprises Multinationales and to the Mentoring Commission of the Association OVSM - Observatoire des Valeurs de la Stratégie et du Management.
