Sandra Gluck is an arbitrator and mediator and a member of the SMA (Society of Maritime Arbitrators, Inc.). She has been involved in the practice of maritime law and the marine insurance industry for more than thirty years and was the Managing Director of Gard (North America), Inc. until 2018 when she retired. She began her career at the New York law firm, Walker & Corsa, eventually becoming a partner, and litigated charter party disputes, cargo and personal injury claims in court proceedings and arbitrations as well as handling transactional work involving ship sales and mortgages. In 2000, she joined Gard (North America) (formerly Trimar Defense Services) where she handled and supervised P&I and FD&D claims on a world-wide basis for the Gard P&I Club’s Members and Assureds, including charter party disputes, cargo claims, personal injury/illness claims, collisions/allisions, pollution and general average. During her tenure as Managing Director at Gard (North America), she participated as a speaker at conferences sponsored by such organizations as the U.S. Maritime Law Association, the International Bar Association and Tulane University. She served as Vice-Chair of the U.S. Maritime Law Association’s Arbitration & ADR Committee from 2008-2010. In 2018, she was honored at the WISTA USA “Women Who Move the World” conference and was named to the Insurance Business America 2018 Elite Women List.
