Dr. Tim Janssen is an oceanographer and the co-founder and CEO of Sofar Ocean. He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography from Delft University, and previously taught physical oceanography at San Francisco State University. Tim co-founded Sofar Ocean with a mission to connect the world's oceans to power a more sustainable future. Sofar has designed and deployed the largest privately owned network of ocean sensors, delivering ocean insights to science, society and industry. Sofar's full stack ocean intelligence platform includes Wayfinder, the company's dynamic voyage optimization platform, which uses their proprietary data and forecasts to help the maritime shipping industry to reduce emissions.
