Maureen MwanzaDirector - Legal and Corporate Affairs at Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, Zambia
Maureen Banda-Mwanza has held the position of Director–Legal and Corporate Affairs with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (“the Commission”) for close to eight years now. The role entails being Legal Advisor to Management and the Board of Commissioners, as well as handling the responsibility of Legal Counsel, representing the Commission at Tribunals and Courts of Law. Before 2015, Maureen also handled Restrictive Business Practices investigations. She has played a role in reviews of various Statutes in Zambia, ensuring that they are harmonised with the tenets of Competition and Consumer Protection Laws; and has been a part of document crafting and review both regionally and internationally, to enhance collaboration and coordinated approach to handling matters relating to Competition and Consumer Protection. Maureen previously served as a member of the Audit Committee of the Ministry of Finance and is currently a member of the Council of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and supply; where she has advocated for competitive procurement. Maureen is also currently serving as a Representative of the Commission on the Board of the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority.
