Arunan KumaranCommission Member at Malaysia Competition Commission
Arunan Kumaran is the Chair/Convener of APEC Competition Policy and Law Group. He has served the Malaysian Government for 18 years handling international trade issues including competition law, intellectual property, consumer protection and electronic commerce. He was responsible for the formulation and drafting of Malaysia’s Competition Policy, Competition Act 2010, Competition Commission Act 2010, and subsequently the establishment of Malaysia Competition Commission. Arunan is Malaysia’s Lead Negotiator for Competition and State Owned Enterprises Chapters of Free Trade Agreements including The Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) and Malaysia-European Union Free Trade Agreement. He continues to play a pivotal role in the development of intellectual property and competition policy in the Asia Pacific region.
