He has been involved in some of the most prominent abuse of dominance cases in India. He successfully represented Matrimony.com in an abuse of dominance case against Google, is advising the National Stock Exchange in its defence against an allegation of predatory pricing by MCX Stock Exchange, HT Media against T-Series (a leading Indian music label) in an excessive pricing case and Monsanto against alleged unfair terms and conditions, excessive pricing and leveraging claims. He is particularly skilled in advising on antitrust aspects of technology related matters, and his client include, Facebook, Microsoft and Uber.
On the merger control front, Naval has successfully obtained approval in several prominent cases including Facebook’s investment in Jio Platforms; Bayer's acquisition of Monsanto; Ctrip’s investment in MakeMyTrip; PVR’s acquisition of DT Cinemas; HP’s acquisition of Samsung’s printer business; the failed merger of Publicis and Omnicom; and Avago’s acquisition of Broadcom.
Chambers & Partners lists Naval’s practice in Band 1 and Global Competition Review ranks it as the only “Elite” practice in India. Who’s Who Legal has listed Naval as a global “Thought Leader” in competition law from 2017-21 and Forbes India has ranked Naval as one of the Top 100 Individual Lawyers in India in 2020-21.
