Bálint BASSOLA is the Head of the Competition Law Practice Group of Bassola Law Firm, which is listed on Legal 500.
Bálint has almost 20 years of experience in the field of competition law: he worked during six years as a Case Handler at the Hungarian Competition Authority and, subsequently, he practiced as a competition lawyer at Dentons LLP, at bpv LLP and at Jalsovszky Law Firm.
He studied in Budapest, Strasboug and Regensburg and earned his LL.M. at the College of Europe (Bruges). He obtained his PhD at Eötvös University of Budapest.
Bálint advises on all aspects of EU and Hungarian competition law. He has been heading the team which first launched cartel damages proceedings on the basis of a European Commission decision (truck cartel) before several Hungarian judicial courts. He represented one of the leading commercial banks in the banking cartel case, in which the Supreme Court (Curia) of Hungary annulled the largest cartel fine ever imposed by the Hungarian Competition Authority.
Besides his native Hungarian, he provides legal advice in English, German and French.
