Jānis RačkoCouncil Member at Competition Council of the Republic of Latvia (Latvia)
Mr. Jānis Račko holds a position of Council member at the Competition Council of Latvia (the CC) since 2014. In 2019, Mr. Račko was re-appointed for the second term. As Council member Mr. Račko main responsibility is to take part in decision making mainly on antitrust and merger cases supporting development and elaboration of new concepts in enforcement.
Mr. Račko has been working at the CC since 2001. From 2003 to 2006 he was head of the CC Legal Department. Since 2006, he has performed the duties of the Executive Director of the CC.
Beside that Mr. Račko oversees elaboration and setting of the CC strategical priorities and implementation, especially contributing on the one of the CC main priorities – advocacy by representing CC at inter-governmental working groups and representing the CC at the Cabinet of Ministers and Parliament. Additionally, Mr. Račko represents the CC internationally, also by participating in OECD.
Mr. Račko has University of Latvia degree in law. Now Mr. Račko academic interests are linked to competition law issues in digital markets while studying Technology Law.
