Profile
James is a Director at the Competition and Markets Authority where he leads work in the transport sector. In aviation, James led the CMA’s antitrust review of the Atlantic Joint Business and has worked on merger reviews in the sector. James also managed the CMA’s work with the CAA on airport competition and the concurrent application of competition law. In rail, James led the production of the CMA’s rail merger guidance and led the review of mergers including Arriva/Northern. James also led the CMA’s review of competition in passenger rail services and oversaw the CMA’s work with ORR. Prior to joining the CMA, James was a senior economist at a law firm where he advised clients in the aviation and rail sectors.
