Gjermund MathisenDirector of Competition and State Aid at EFTA Surveillance Authority
Upon completing his cand.jur. and LL.M. degrees, Gjermund joined the Norwegian Ministry of Justice From where he was seconded to the European Commission (DG JLS), and to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). He later joined the EFTA Court in Luxembourg, as a Legal Secretary Whilst in Luxembourg, he completed his PhD in Law at the University of Bergen. Gjermund was then recruited to ESA’s Legal and Executive Affairs Directorate, where he became a Senior Officer, after which he was recruited to his current post as Director of Competition and State Aid. Gjermund has written extensively on EEA law and international law issues.
