Jacob WestinHead of Legal, Nordics & EUCAN Competition Law Specialist at Takeda Pharmaceuticals (Sweden)
Following Takeda’s acquisition of Shire Pharmaceuticals in 2019, Jacob Westin (originally with Shire), based in Stockholm, was appointed to a dual role as Head of Legal, Nordics in the one hand and Europe-Canada region Competition Law Specialist on the other. Jacob joined Shire in 2016 from GSK where he was a London-based Assistant General Counsel responsible for all EU competition law matters (including the CMA Paroxetine patent settlement case) and competition law compliance. A Swedish national, he started his career with the Swedish Competition Authority, where he served with various departments including its legal service for four years before joining Baker & McKenzie in Stockholm to practise competition law. Jacob earned his Swedish law degree at Uppsala University and an LL.M. in European Law at the University of Essex. He has taught competition law at Swedish universities and written several books and articles on the subject. His most recent competition law handbook was published in December 2016.
