Carla S. Limcaoco joined Philippine Transmarine Carriers Inc, (PTC) in 1985 and was responsible for managing both the shore staff and sea staff of the organization. In addition to her functions as Chief Operating Officer and later on, as Vice-Chairman and Executive Managing Director, Carla focused on developing the CSR framework of the organization thru the application of human resource management principles to the management and development of seafarers. She assumed the position of Director for PTC Holdings Corp. in 2009 when she was also appointed as President of the PTC-CSJ Foundation. PTC CSJ Foundation seeks to improve the condition of the marginalized thru corporate and community programs on quality education, sports, financial literacy, environment, and disaster preparedness and response.

In 2007 she was requested to initiate the establishment of Women in Maritime Philippines Association (WIMAPHIL), an organization initiated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for the purpose of educating and empowering women from all sectors on social issues affecting the maritime industry. Carla was President of WIMAPHIL until 2015.

In 2008, with the closure of the Embassy of Sweden in the Philippines, Carla was appointed as the Honorary Consul General of Sweden by King Carl XVI Gustaf. She was awarded the Royal Order of the Polar Star, rank of Commander, by the Swedish government on March 2019. The distinction was conferred by King Carl XVI Gustaf of the Kingdom of Sweden in recognition of her exemplary service to Sweden and her dedicated commitment to the promotion of Swedish interests in the Philippines. Carla served as Honorary Consul-General of Sweden from 2008 to March 2019.
