Jonathan Hemus is founder and managing director of crisis management consultancy Insignia and was previously global head of crisis and issues management at international consultancy Porter Novelli.

He works with leaders of businesses around the world to ensure they have the capability and confidence to do and say the right things under the intense pressure of a crisis. During his twenty five year career he has advised clients including Anglo American, Cathay Pacific, Disney, DP World, the Financial Times, the International Cricket Council, Lidl, Procter & Gamble and Sky.

Driven by a passion to prevent the needless harm caused by a mis-handled crisis, he enables his clients to successfully prepare for and sometimes handle their worst nightmares, whether cyber attack, catastrophic accidents, management misdeeds, product contamination or environmental incidents 

He is the author of ‘Crisis Proof – How to Prepare For The Worst Day Of Your Business Life’ published in January 2021.

He is a visiting lecturer at Catolica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, Henley Business School, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Central Florida. He is also chair of the Advisory Board at Aston University’s Crisis Centre where he lectures as a member of the faculty for its MSc in Crisis and Disaster Management. 

Jonathan is a trusted media commentator on breaking crises for media including Al Jazeera, BBC TV and radio, CNBC, CNN, the Daily Telegraph, Management Today, Sky News, the Sunday Times and the Wall Street Journal.

As an acknowledged leader in the field of crisis management, he has spoken to executives at conferences and events across five continents.

Jonathan was named as one of the IoD’s directors of the year in its 2020 awards for his work in advising businesses on their COVID-19 response.
