CTI Clinical Trial and Consulting Services has acquired Spanish CRO Dynakin to support its customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The deal – financial details of which were not disclosed – will add Dynakin’s GLP biolab and model-based drug development offering to CTI’s clinical trial business.

CTI CEO Timothy Schroeder said the merger would create a stronger and more robust global full-service clinical research organization.

“Dynakin and CTI share common philosophies and cultures, with a focus on teamwork, employee retention and career development. We are passionate about continued growth and expansion for the continued success of the company, so this acquisition is a great fit for the next phase of growth at CTI.”

Dynakin’s services will be merged into CTI’s European clinical team. The Spanish firm’s co-founders Monica Rodriguez and Nerea Leal will be joining CTI in new roles that will be “integral to the company’s growth.”

MEA expansion

CTI outlined plans to grow its MEA business in November, explaining that the nations of the MEA region have particularly demonstrated their value to clinical research throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

It lauded the efforts of regulators in the region, explaining they “have demonstrated a commitment to efficiency throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, working closely with clinical trial sponsors and academic institutions and answering inquiries well outside their usual working hours.

CTI is working on 40 active COVID-19 projects for diagnosis, treatment and prevention, including partnerships with Janssen and Humanigen.

Expansion

The Dynakin acquisition follows just a few months after Covington, Kentucky headquartered CTI opened a new campus in Cincinnati it a move that create 700 jobs.

At the time CTI said the new campus – which is located at a 37,000 square feet facility in downtown Cincinnati – will house laboratory services business unit, framing it at “a first step in a global expansion.”

It explained that the site will “provide molecular, cellular and bioanalytical testing, as well as biorepository, and kit building services for the company’s clients.”
