Stefan ClausTechnical Head of Insurance at Bank of England
Stefan Claus is the Technical Head of Insurance at the Bank of England. His team is responsible for sector monitoring and horizon scanning across Life and General insurance.
In 2017 his division was responsible for the UK’s General Insurance stress test (covering natural catastrophe and economic scenarios), assessing the soft market conditions in the London Market and releasing a research paper on the potential implications of autonomous vehicles on the insurance industry.
He is a member of both EIOPA’s and the IAIS InsurTech working groups, and within the Bank is responsible for a number of Proof-of-Concept projects involving new technologies.
Prior to joining the Bank, Stefan worked at Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality as Head of Actuarial Risk Modelling, before becoming a Director at KPMG. He is also a qualified actuary with more than 20 years experience in general insurance.
