Since 2009, Dr. Przemyslaw Imielski has been working at GRS in the Decommissioning and Waste Management Division in Berlin.

Dr. Imielski is a member of the working group on “Decommissioning” at GRS and an experienced expert in the field of technical and organisational requirements for the safe decommissioning of nuclear facilities and installations, management of decommissioning waste and radiation protection during nuclear decommissioning. He co-ordinated various projects at GRS and contributed to several EU funded projects related to decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

Dr. Imielski is involved as expert in the review of the safety documentation and regulatory support performed in the frame of European projects, especially in the East European countries (e.g. Armenia, Bulgaria and Ukraine). He has worked in a number of projects financed by the European Commission to assist these countries in decommissioning their aging reactors, radioactive waste management and radiation protection. He is also involved in the support of the national authorities regarding safety related topics in the field of radiation protection and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. He contributes to development of regulatory documents for radioactive waste management facilities and decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

Before joining GRS, he was working at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin for Materials and Energy (HZB) and at the CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research in Geneva with focus on surface nanostructures measurement.
