ONR Inspector - Nuclear Safety at Office for Nuclear Regulation

Simon Morgan is a Principal Inspector of Nuclear Safety with the UK’s Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).  He manages a team of inspectors working in ONR’s Nuclear Liabilities Regulation specialism, providing radioactive waste and decommissioning support primarily to ONR’s Sellafield, Decommissioning, Fuel & Waste Division.  He leads for ONR on Land Quality Management and Site End States across the nuclear industry.  He is a member of the Western European Nuclear Regulators Association (WENRA) Waste and Decommissioning Working Group, and is currently providing support to a project led by the UK Government Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) on the regulation of nuclear sites in the final stages of decommissioning and clean-up.

A graduate in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, Simon has previously worked in the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), as an inspector and team leader in the Environment Agency, in the Ministry of Defence, and has also spent several years in safety and environmental consultancy.
